It is no secret that I am a big fan of Motley Crue. I have all of their official released books as you can see from some of my previews reviews. However this book was a little dissappointing. Aside from a few new things and getting to hear from Vince’s wives, most of the book ive read about it before.
Vince comes off as such an asshole and ego maniac, that most of what he talks about makes you think “what the fuck is he talking about?” He talks so bad about the other guys in Motley Crue that not even halfway through the book i almost put it down for good. It is no wonder why he says Motley Crue is a business and not a friendship. Neil openly says how “those guys are not my friends, they are not trustworthy”, well i wonder why. Also i felt he was very repetitive all throughtout the book, saying the same things over and over…
There is a reason why not many people who were or are involved in his life declined to contribute anything to the book. When you have an ego that big and you think youre better than everybody, or you blame everything on somebody else, and you do not take responsability for you own actions, well i think some people are gonna turn their back. That was another thing that i saw all through this book. Vince is always blaming in mistakes on somebody else, man up and take responsability.
The chapters about his daughter are the best thing about this book. You can really see how honest Vince is when he is talking about his daughter.
All in all is a decent read if you are a fan of Motley Crue, if you’re not or you havent read The Dirt or any of the other books by the guys from Motley, then you wont really understand this book or their history.

Nikki Sixx has done it again! His second succesful book after The Heroin Diaries. This is much more than his Life Through Distorted Lenses. It is both part photography and part biography.
The high quality pictures in this book are incredible. They each have their own unique concept and are beautiful. Nikki takes you with him through some of the worst and most drug infected parts of towns to take his pictures, encountering homeless and drugs addicts along the way.
If you dont know anything about Sixx A.M. or how they came to be, this book will shed some light on that, and there is great detail about their recordings as well. Sixx takes pride on how much he loves Katherine (Kat von D) even to this day, and is not afraid to show his love for her, especially on the second half of the book.
I really enjoyed the Tour Entries at the end of the book, which really show you what he was thinking right then and there!
It was a short read but with a powerful message behind it!! This one will not dissapoint!

If you’re a fan of Motley Crue or Nikki Sixx or “The Dirt” then this is a must read.
The Heroin Diaries is a boom about exactly what it says: A Year in the Life of a Shattered Rockstar. The reading is from Nikki Sixx’ diaries that he wrote from December 1986 to December 1987. Throughtout the whole book there are the diaries themselves and along them are also short stories or comments from Nikki’s closest people at the time like his mother, the guys in motley crue, slash, and a few of the roadies and managers.
This book I must say is not an autobiography. If you want an autobiography then read “The Dirt”. This was not meant to be a funny book either. It shows what a dark place Sixx was at the time and all the drugs he did are detailed with an exact time and a place.
The design of this book is very cool too. It has blood splatters and dark grotesque pictures all throughtout. Only thing I wish there was is a section dedicated just for pictures (usually halfway through the book). Towards the end of the book you get an update on what Nikki and Motley have been up to since he wrote this diaries.
With the amount of drugs he did it amazes me how well he kept up with the diary. I was left wanting more of this book! What an amazing story! I could go on for a while abiut this book but I dont want to spoil any of it.
Awesome book and a must read for a fan!
