Pamela Des Barres: Im with the Band (book review)

This week my fellow readers i bring you my review of what many consider an iconic grouoie autobiography. Like the title says it is Pamela Des Barres first book.

This is much more than a book about a groupie. Is the book about a young girl trying to find herself, struggling all through her life. Pamela’s style of writing is really unique but she does it very well. She keeps you turning page after page wanting to find out more and more about her incredible life.

Let me say though, this is not a tell all book full with nasty and private details about the famous musicians she’s been with. There’s the ocassional detail but Pamela tells it in such ways that is not gonna have you thinking “Why would she include that?”. You will read about Noel Redding, Jimi Hendrix, Waylong Jennings, Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, Keith Moon, Frank Zappa and many others who were some of the most important acts of the 50s, 60s, and 70s.

In this updated edition (with a foreword by Dave Navarro) is cool to see at the end of the book Pamela writing about her current life. Mostly paying respect to a lot of her close friends who have died throughout the years, including members of the GTOs.

All in all this book was awesome. It was like time traveling back into the 60s and 70s. Pamela is an awesome writer who has wrote a few memorable books (this one being her first). Go get yourself a copy of it, you will not be dissapointed.
